This faux silk fabric is a drapey, medium weight, and reversible satin back dupion. Both the matt 'dupion' side and the very shiny satin side, have the imitation silk 'slub' lines. A popular low cost wedding fabric for dressmaking bridesmaids, bride and other wedding outfits, proms, evening gowns, etc. Using both sides in the same garment allows many interesting effects, such as a top in the satin and bottom in the matt, or a whole garment in the satin, with matt trimmings. 'Dupion' is sometimes spelt: dupioni, doupion, or douppioni.
