A low cost polyester dress fabric, it is great for figure-hugging or flowing bridesmaids, budget bride and other wedding outfits, proms, evening gowns, etc. The name 'satin' derives from the ancient Chinese port Zaitun (now Quanzhou) which was associated with the export of the luxury silk fabric in the Middle Ages.
