Dupion silk fabric is the best known silk material, with its characteristic texture, and stiffish (not drapey) handle. This is a power-woven quality of dupion fabric which is smoother with a finer texture. A classic choice for bridal fabric, especially bridesmaids due to the huge range of shades. Dupion silk is also a popular dress fabric for prom dresses and other special occasions, and the most popular silk fabric for curtains and drapes. Two-tone or 'shot' colours have one colour of warp thread another colour for the weft. Also spelt: dupioni silk, doupion, or douppioni, and sometimes called raw silk.
